Mam'Selles

History
Established
in
1928

History:
Mam’Selles was organized in 1928 as the Junior Women’s Club. The name was changed to Mam’Selles in 1947, under Mrs. Olivia Maskiell, Senior President. Later, the Bradenton Women’s Club felt that the Mam’Selles sponsorship should be permitted to govern the Mam’Selles membership. Thus in 1959, Mam’Selles withdrew from the sponsorship of the Bradenton Women’s Club and began governing itself, relying on the work of its members and on the guidance of its sponsors and governing board.
The main purpose of Mam’Selles has always been to serve the young girls of the community and to develop in them important qualities that all Mam’Selles should possess. Dependability, responsibility and loyalty are achieved by service to the community and to the club. Through service to others, a Mam’Selle learns compassion and respect, both of others and herself.
Mam’selles seeks to instill in is members a civic minded spirit that will continue to gain strength in the girls adult life. With this spirit is taught the important social graces that will mark her as a leader throughout her life. A Mam’Selle should always try to attain these qualities and seek opportunities to serve God, the community, and her family.
